Why Do My Brakes Squeal?
Most brake squeals are actually an intentional safety feature. Modern brake pads have tiny metal tabs called "wear indicators." When your brake pad material wears down to a critical level, this metal tab rubs against the spinning brake rotor, emitting a loud, high-pitched squeal to warn you that replacement is needed.
